Anmok Coffee Street is where Korea’s whole cafe obsession arguably began — a seafront strip in Gangneung packed end to end with cafes. Which is lovely, until you’re standing there trying to pick one. My go-to for the view is Cafe Albero, an ocean-view cafe on Anmok Coffee Street with three floors of glass looking straight out at the sea. Finding it on the coffee street
Cafe Albero sits at the far end of the coffee street, right by the beach — look for the Starbucks and it’s just beside it. It’s a modern three-storey building, easy to spot once you’re on the strip.
The view is the whole point
What makes it the ocean-view cafe on Anmok Coffee Street I keep coming back to: every floor is glass-fronted, so you get the sea from anywhere inside — and the higher you go, the more the horizon opens up, with tables running right along the windows.
If you can grab a spot on the second-floor terrace, take it — the blue of Anmok Beach and the sound of the waves, right there with your coffee. It’s the seat everyone wants, so a little timing helps.
Coffee and desserts
The drinks menu is wide — espresso, cappuccino, condensed-milk latte, einspanner, plus non-coffee options like teas, ades, smoothies, and juices. Menus are labelled in English alongside Korean, and you can swap any coffee to decaf for about ₩500 more. Rough prices: an Americano runs around ₩5,500 and most lattes ₩6,000–7,000, with the einspanner around ₩7,500.
There’s a full dessert case too — cakes and tarts that rotate, so the exact lineup changes with the season (check their Naver Map page for what’s current). A couple I liked:
- Einspanner (around ₩7,500) — espresso under a soft, sweet cloud of cream. Not the dense, chewy style; this one’s light and gentle.
- Lemon meringue cheese tart (around ₩7,500) — tangy lemon filling, soft meringue on top, and a moist tart base. Bright and not too heavy.
Prices can shift over time, so treat these as a guide rather than exact.
