Burger in Yeonnam: Nikuking Burger and Its Famous Rosé Burger

Yeonnam-dong is packed with places to eat, but if you want a proper Korean-style burger in Yeonnam, this is my pick: Nikuking Burger (니꾸킹버거). It’s a small handmade-burger spot just off Hongdae, best known for its rosé burger — a Korean flavor that’s been a big hit with young diners here. The burgers are genuinely good, the prices are friendly, and — a real bonus for visitors — there’s an English (and Chinese) menu.

Getting there

  • From Hongik University (Hongdae) Station Exit 3: about a 3–5 minute walk (388m). Follow the Gyeongui Line Forest Park toward the Yeonnam “Miro-gil” lanes; it’s a couple of turns into the alleys.
  • Address: 17 Donggyo-ro 34-gil, 1F #202, Mapo-gu, Seoul. (Google Maps)

First-timers: pin “Nikuking Burger” on Naver Map, since it’s tucked in the back lanes.

Hours: Mon–Fri 11:30–21:00 (last order 20:30); Sat–Sun 12:00–20:30 (last order 20:00). Cards accepted, order at the counter, and there’s an English and Chinese menu — easy for visitors.

The space

It’s on the second floor with big windows, so it’s bright and airy, decorated with playful, kitschy burger touches all around. There’s a self-service corner with water, pickles and hot sauce.

What to order

Prices are refreshingly reasonable — most burgers land around ₩10,000–12,500 (prices around, and there are good-value set menus too). The signatures:

Rosé burger (₩12,500) — the star, and the reason many people come. A sous-vide beef patty with creamy rosé sauce, bacon, onion and sweet cream sauce. The rosé sauce is richer and smoother than the pasta version it’s named after, and it’s fantastic with the beef.

Sriracha garlic burger (₩9,800) — the other signature and the shop’s base burger: beef, cheddar, pickle, onion, sriracha mayo and garlic chips. A touch lighter and more savory than the rosé, and under ₩10,000.

Hot BBQ chicken (5pc, ₩7,000) — boneless fried chicken in a sweet-savory hot BBQ sauce with spring onion. Crisp, tender, and a great thing to pick at between bites of burger.

There are also sets — a lunch set (weekdays 11:30–15:00: burger + drink, ₩11,000), a Set for 1 (burger + side + drink), and a Combo for 2 — plus sides like fries, cheese sticks, coleslaw and chili cheese fries.

The burgers are big on flavor with juicy patties, and the sides hold their own, so even people who aren’t usually burger fans tend to leave happy.

Good to know

  • Payment: cards accepted
  • Menu: English and Chinese menus available; order at the counter
  • Getting there: 3–5 min from Hongdae Station Exit 3, in the Yeonnam back lanes
  • Good value, with lunch and combo sets

Verdict

Nikuking Burger is an easy, satisfying stop when you’re wandering Yeonnam — a Korean take on the handmade burger with a rosé burger worth the trip, honest prices, and an English menu that makes ordering painless. Get the rosé burger, add the hot BBQ chicken to share, and enjoy one of the better casual meals in the neighborhood. And if you’re eating your way around the area, the charcoal hambak steak at Hamban in nearby Hapjeong is another easy, satisfying stop — especially if you’re dining solo — and Yeonnam’s giant salmon sushi at Yeonhadong is worth a look too.
