Some cafes you go to for the coffee; others you go to for the setting. Mongblanc Som is firmly the second kind — a small, photogenic Ikseon-dong hanok cafe built around a courtyard where cooling fog drifts up between the tiled roofs. If you want the prettiest spot for a photo and a slice of cake on the hanok street, this is it.

The setting
The magic here is the courtyard. A cooling-fog system sends mist curling through the space, so on a warm day it looks genuinely dreamy — and it’s the reason people queue for a photo. The entrance sets the mood too, a short bamboo-lined path leading in, and there are lovely seats under the hanok eaves looking onto the misty garden.

Inside is cozy and warm if the weather isn’t cooperating, but on a nice day, aim for the courtyard.

What to order
The menu has English labels (cards accepted). The name is a clue to the specialty: Mont Blanc cakes.
Mont Blanc cakes (the signature)
Mont Blanc is a classic dessert of piped cream over a light base, and Mongblanc Som does three versions:
- Matcha-strawberry Mont Blanc — 14,500 KRW
- Bonibam (chestnut) Mont Blanc — 15,500 KRW — the traditional chestnut one
- Strawberry Mont Blanc — 16,500 KRW

Drinks
The drinks are solid too. The black sesame latte (7,500 KRW) is nutty and comforting — a nice Korean-flavored option — and the americano (5,800 KRW) is a clean, reliable pour. There’s also a chocolate cream latte and green tea latte (both 7,500 KRW).

Verdict
For an Ikseon-dong hanok cafe that’s all about the setting, Mongblanc Som is the prettiest pick — a misty courtyard, a bamboo entrance, and a signature Mont Blanc cake to go with a nutty black sesame latte. Come on a nice day, grab a seat under the eaves, and take your photos. Make a neighborhood outing of it with salt bread from Jayeondo and a meal at Songam Onban.
